Something a little bit different for us this week to start off our last term of the school year :) If only we could do this in school every week!
I mentioned in my blog post that I would post my favourite cookie recipe and here it is :) As you can see, I've posted a picture of the cookies before they went into the oven. I don't have a picture of them after they came out because I ate them before I could :O Woops!!!!
It's a very simple recipe. It is very important that you ask an adult to help you with the oven and any sharp cooking tools. This recipe should make about 12 large cookies so if you wanted you could freeze half of the cooking dough once you have it mixed and keep it for another day :) I'm looking forward to hearing how they turned out if you decide to bake them <3

Method
Little did you know girls by completing this recipe you've actually practiced so many skills! You've practiced working with fractions, weighing different items, reading, the layout for procedural writing and developed your creativity by designing your very own cookies so a big well done to you!!!! <3

Ingredients
- 150g Softened butter
- 120g light brown sugar
- 80g Caster sugar or granulated sugar
- 2 egg yolk
- 225g self-raising flour
- 1/4 teaspoon of bicarbonate of Soda/ Bread soda
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- Chocolate chips (I used chocolate m and m's)
- Whatever toppings you like (I cut up some Mars bars, Smarties, Dime bars and plain chocolate).
Method
- Preheat the oven to 170 degrees fan.
- Mix the brown sugar, caster/granulated sugar and butter in a big bowl until evenly mixed and smooth.
- Gradually mix in the flour, bicarbonate of soda and egg yolks. You might have to use your hands to get it mixed properly.
- Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract and mix through.
- Grease a baking tray and cover the tray with greaseproof paper.
- Roll your cookie dough into small balls (about 2 - 3cm in width - you'll be surprised how much they grow :O - I made mine too big the first time and it turned into one big cookie :D) and press them onto the baking tray slightly. Stick in a few more smarties/ M and M's, chocolate chips or Mars bars, whatever you are using :D
- Place them in the oven for 8 - 12 minutes, until they are golden on the outside and slightly gooey on the inside. They will keep cooking when they come out of the oven :)
- Leave them to cool before you take them off the baking tray.
- Lastly, eat your delicious cookies! Don't forget to take a picture and send them on to me :D
